Margarita Ranch doesn't overwhelm you with architectural style or rich decor, but you'll probably be too busy browsing the huge tequila and frozen margarita menu to care. Outside, you're greeted by a simple, brown-brick facade and black, wrought-iron furniture. Inside, subtle neutral colors and utilitarian furnishings are offset by scattered, colorful prints and tropical plants. It's nothing fancy, but at least you won't have to worry about spilling your tequila on the shiny concrete floor. The food menu is expansive, offering an array of appetizers, including authentic tortilla soup. Entrees are served with black beans and rice and include not only the standard beef and chicken fare, but fish as well. The inexpensive lunch menu contains enchiladas, tamales, tacos and flautas. Margarita Ranch also offers selections cooked over its pecan-wood-stoked flaming grill. The restaurant is situated in the multimillion-dollar Mockingbird Station development close to Lakewood and the Park Cities. -- Gary Taylor

I have been to the Margarita Ranch on several occasions. On most occasions the service has been very attentive, and the server knowledgable regarding the drinks. This last time, well unfortunately...bad memories can outway the good. I recently visited there to meet friends to celebrate a friends birthday for happy hour. The bartender served me a drink, and that was the last time anyone served me without me asking for service. To make a long story short...we talked to a manager about sitting for more than an hour with no service and having to ASK for chips salsa and a menu and Doug Sinclairs response was "So what do you want me to do?" The service went from neglect to blantant NO service from there. By the end of the night we had found out that Doug had told the staff, including the bartender not to serve us. He stated that he had sent 4 servers to our booth and that we were rude to them. The only server that came to our table was Taffy...and her attention to us was sub-par and abrupt. She took a friends drink back to the bar because it had a hair in it, at the time she was standing next to our booth waiting on space at a table. In the time that Taffy was gone with the drink a seat came available at the booth right next to us. Taffy came back and sat her drink on the counter behind me where my friend was standing. After 20 mins she asked Taffy if she had forgotten about her, Taffy told her no, she put the drink where she was standing, picked it up, put it on her table, put the bill on the table and then said, please take care of this and walked away. That was the last time anyone came to our table. Thank goodness we know someone that knows the owner because apparently they get a bit of confidence in the fact that no information concerning anything other than the happy hour menu is indicated on their website. So please if you get a chance...go visit Doug...let him know right off the bat that you deserve and expect 5 star service.

my boyfriend and i make it a point to come at least once every week! we love the atmosphere, the crowd, the service, the margaritas, and last but not least the food!

I don't know what the critic with "Guide" was thinking in the original review. This place is great!! Cool location and great fajitas. Love the spinach enchiladas for lunch as well. The Margaritas top Mi Cocina's for sure. I don't know how you become a "professional" critic, but you should at least demonstrate a certain level of palate sophistication if you are going to go on the record as an expert!!
i like this place
I had a good experience here. I actually set out to eat at Spike's and detoured to M.R. when I saw all the people there. The menu did look pricy, but mainly on specialty items (ie, anything with shrimp). As far as the service, I was looking around the restaurant to see what other people were eating, and the manager ran over to see if I needed anything. He gave us great suggestions, and brought out free bowls of their sauces, including the queso(yes, BOWLS), for us to taste. We had the appetizer sampler (quesadilla, flautas, nachos, tamales) and enchiladas. The flautas were creamy and unique without losing the authentic taste ( and spilling into the realm of corporate mexican food). If I was to go back ( which I will ), I will get the quesadillas (there is something with the cheese)or the flautas(they were that good). Enchiladas were about 8 bucks, flautas and quesadillas were also. The spinach tamale was incredibly good. Margaritas were good and stiff. Their lunch prices really seem inviting for this caliber of food. A good dine out!

I had dinner at
Margarita Ranch last
night, good crowd for
a Sunday. The
Margaritas are very
strong so be careful! I
guess that's why the
patio was full. Our
food was outstanding.
If you don't want to sit
outside, the inside is
very stylish and has a
fun bar with T.V. the
best fajitas and
wonderful thin warm
chips and salsa.
