Playhouse Square has long needed a spot like Hamilton's, a sophisticated hideaway where playgoers can meet apres show to critique and canoodle. A moody vibe resonates throughout this dim, cozy martini bar, with the gleam from the chrome cocktail shakers providing a good portion of the ambient lighting. Classics like the Gibson highlight the menu, as well as offerings familiar to the neo-martini crowd such as the Blue Moon and the Lemon Drop. Fruity variations include the Strawberry Blonde, made with strawberry vodka and liqueur, and the Georgia Peach Blossom, garnished with a fresh slice of peach. The bar has a good selection of wines by the glass, and though Hamilton's is not without snob appeal, there are some plain old American light beers on the menu.
