This long-standing Mexican food institution is still a crowd pleaser.

In Short
Meal times are swarming with fans, willing to wait 15 to 90 minutes for a seat. People chatter excitedly at worn booths and tables, crowd the bar for margaritas or wrestle with unruly kids. Late nights bring in boisterous college students downing pitchers of margaritas. The menu features starters such as fries smothered in green chile and melted cheddar. For entrees, there's the fajita taco or steak with onions, tomatoes and jalapenos.

We held our rehearsal dinner here and were treated like royalty. Love the shredded beef dishes and three of us couldn’t finish the grand nachos. The owner and his staff always make sure that everything is satisfactory by stopping at every table during lunch.

Food is mediocre at best and the wait staff are rude and arrogant.

This is a good place for people who dont like real Mexican food.

My first horrible experience was ordering chilie rellenos(sp?), they were stuffed with some terrible cheese then wraped them in a tortillia and deep fried them!

A friend of mine makes great Rellenos, so Im a bit biased. Then again I havent found a decent one in this city of hell where everything is somthered in GREEN CHILI.

She is from cental Mexico and she came to visit me and we went to a Mexican restaurant and asked me what the heck what is this crap on my food. hehe. It was Green Chili. She thought it meant Chili Verde.

I figure if you chose between Taco Bell or other chain Mex places, the Bonnet isnt too bad.

Tacos de Colima is a good place.

In a word...GROSS...describesthis disgusting stuff being served on plates here! Yucky greasy garbage is the nicest way to put it. I cannot believe that anyone would ever come back for a second time. I was going to ask the manager for my money back, but decided to just leave and never turn back, else I turn into a pillar of cheap lipids and rat cheese. The waiter was aloof and flirting with two guys on the night we were there, not we care about anyone's lifestyle, but it just seemed so inappropriate under any circumstances. I am surprised that more folks do not become ill from the horrible junk they actually charge for...best margaritas? I think NOT- watery and cheap...this place actually makes Benny's look good! And that's saying a LOT! Guess there is no accouting for "taste"- pun intended but you hopefully have been amply warned.

The food is very good, not excellent, but always consistent. The Margaritas are good, as well. They are always very busy. We like to pick up our orders 'to go.'
