Fast, cheerful service and fresh Chinese food compete for the spotlight at Panda Inn. The eatery offers up spicy favorites like orange chicken and lo mein, while surprising diners with fresh seafood offerings. Focusing on cuisine from the Mandarin and Szechwan regions of China, the elegant restaurant is a favorite of tired shoppers and theatergoers (the Lyceum Theater is downstairs, the Civic Center just steps away). Pre-theater dining can be hard to find downtown -- just let your server know that the clock is ticking.
Panda Inn remains largely unappreciated by San Diego diners who often focus on waterfront restaurant choices. The outdoor patio -- way up on the top of Horton Plaza -- is a great place to catch the breezes that come in off the harbor.

A Long Drive
We moved from San Diego about 4 years ago. But still go to the Panda Inn when ever we are in San Diego. I was in the sales industry for 11 years and was asked on a regular basis to take clients there for lunch and dinner. It is the best oriental food around.

My mom introduced me to Panda Inn about 2 years ago..I introduced my friends to Panda Inn..If anyone that worked there was to read this..they would know us as the group that orders 3 - 7 orders of the cream cheese crab wontons!!! Love those things! We all go once a week!
Inn and Express, same owner
I would skip this American-Chinese restaurant. There are much better and more authentic chinese places in San Diego.
Also both Panda Inn and Panda Express are owned by the same big giant company. Check out their site linked to this page if you like. That said, the Inn concept is a much nicer dining experience than Express, its fast food cousin. It's not the fast food place.
It's Panda Inn, not Panda Express, Mr. Previous Commentor. I love when people make comments on these sites without having visited the place they're talking about. I've been to Panda INN, and it's lovely. This is fine, upscale service and food. I'm not sure how Americanized the food is, as I usually go for Thai or Vietnamese over Chinese, but it's quite good. Once again, don't confuse this with the fast food place on the opposite side of the mall, and don't spout off about things with which you are unfamiliar.
