If you're looking for tasty Americanized Chinese food in attractive surroundings, this is the place. Owner Davien Mei was raised in Canton, China, and could easily provide totally authentic Chinese fare. But with a restaurant in tony North Scottsdale, he knows which side his eggroll is buttered on. Instead of chopsticks, chicken feet and daily specials printed on the wall, patrons find servers who speak perfect English, white linen tablecloths with sparkling knives and forks and soothing classical music piped in. The elegant dining room features tiered dining areas. The only hints of Chinese are silk flowers, paintings and vases. Judging from the crowds, Jade Palace appears to have exactly what Scottsdale diners are looking for.

It's a combination of East and West flavors, with a lot of delicious main meal combinations. You can start with steamed dumplings made with shrimp, pork and chicken. Kung pao shrimp, twice-cooked pork and chow fun noodles are attractive choices. More adventurous diners can choose Grand Marnier shrimp, white steamed fish, Singapore-style curried rice noodles and lobster with pork. Do it up right with a house specialty like Hawaii Five-O, a combination of Maine lobster, jumbo shrimp, chicken, roast pork and beef with mushrooms, baby corn, sauteed vegetables and pineapple rings.
