Since 1974, the Wangs have cooked up delicious Chinese Mandarin dishes with flair and fun. Patriarch John Wang has a steady following of suburban families and couples who show up for the four-course family dinners, while local business types often come in for the fast and friendly three-course lunch specials. Although the interior looks somewhat formal, don't come dressed up because this is a casual place.
Start your meal with a drink from the small bar that serves strong, tropical concoctions such as the mai tai, blue Hawaii and Singapore sling. For celebrations, order the double scorpion, a giant rum and juice punch served in a ceramic volcano that's lit on fire. The waiters, dressed in tuxedo black, are superb at timing the next course and putting away your mounds of leftovers in those little white boxes. The upbeat feeling and great food here make it perfect for celebrating birthdays or Mom's long-awaited promotion. There's even a banquet room in the back that seats up to 100 guests.

Very Family Friendly
My family has been celebrating special occasions at the Golden Dragon for more than 30 years. The speical room at the back can accomodate huge parties. The Sizzling Rice Soup and special egg rolls are the best in the county. The service is always excellent and the price is right.

A friendly local reataurant with friendly family membe s owners always on premises to see that you are well cared for. They quality and quanity are excellent. Not a Gourmet establisment but what is Gourmet Chinese?? Staff makes up for any short commings as most staff members have been there for many years. A good Friday nite out destination.

How cold this place be on the best of anything list.Terrible
Last Friday, my son and I read all the great reviews of this place and had to visit. We ordered (to go) vegetable fried rice, sweet and sour port, orange chicken, the egg rolls that someone on here called awesome and chicken with broccoli(not on the menu). I am sorry to say that the food was terrible. On the plus side, it was prepared fresh and hot...but..it was flavorless...the egg rolls had no taste other than grease...the fried rice was as plain as plain steamed white rice. I don't know, maybe they had a new chef (on a Friday night that wouldn't have been a good idea). I will not ever visit it again...so sorry, I was really hoping to have found a great chinease place in Orange County. Can't believe it has been in business as long as it has. We didn't finish the food. Today is Tuesday and I brought it into work to give to my co-worker who is a firm believer that free food tastes fine with him! LOL
Very good, Lots of food
The orange peeled beef was tasty. The beef strips were crispy with light batter and tender inside. It was pleasantly sweet, but the flavors were well defined. I like a restaurant that makes sure its fried entrees (sweet and sour and aromatic type) served with sauce is served promptly so it doesn't get limp. They promptly honored my request to subsititue pork and chicken and kept the shrimp in lieu of scallops and fish in the three ingredient Hong Kong styled noodles. After we were done overeating, we had only eaten half of the food. The egg rolls are great. I had to travel 8 miles on the slow 55 to Victoria to Harbor to get here, and it was worth the drive.
We most recently went on a Thursday night. There was a 25 person banquet in the adjacent hall. Still our waitress had to pass by our table to serve them, and she was really good at keeping our bottomless sodas filled. For the kids, they even have Shirley Temples at the same price as coke.
