There's nothing quite like the first visit to Cathay House. Approaching from the entrance through a nondescript strip shopping center, guests are escorted into a cosmopolitan, multi-tiered dining area facing a wall of glass that offers an amazing view of the lights of Las Vegas. The beauty of that first glimpse never fades even on repeat visits. Szechwan and Hunan dishes dominate the menu; highlights include a pupu platter with crab Rangoon, strawberry chicken and the full range of traditional dim sum. Cathay House is usually crowded, and when there's a full house and at least one large party in attendance, the noise levels tend to creep up higher than you might like for a place with a reputation as a romantic hideaway. But it's a small price to pay for the quality of food, the attentive service, and the city view.

I'm pretty sure Chang's is still open since I just got back from Vegas 3 days ago.. ahaha.. yea.. Chang's is still open.. it's down the street from Excalibur/New York New York, turn left at the intersection with a Walgreens then when you've reached Fred's, Chang's is right next door...
I still disapprove of Cathay House..dinner isn't great either.. same ole same ole..
btw this is duckerzgobyebye...signing OFF! =o]Comments(0)|Add CommentGreat food, great service!!!!
I used to go to Changs restaurant until it closed and that place was wonderful. Now I go here and have never had a problem with the waiters or waitresses or food. If I did they would take care of anything because they are very accomodating in every way. I don't understand how people can say this place is so bad when the food is always fresh and tasty. The dim sum is as good or better than any place in Vegas and I have been to many Chinese restaurants in California, Arizona and I know good dim sum. Give this place a try and you will not regret it. Also, I am not Chinese (I'm cuacasion) and they treat me no different than any Asian, Chinese person there. They are kind and respectful to people that treat them the same way. I have never seen them be rude or give bad service to anyone because there are so many people coming around to make sure your meal and service are good. Excellent place.
Good food, not so good service
I ate there a few times. I enjoy the dim sum but the waitress/es are horrible. They take forever to refill your drinks and come to your calling. I'm used to the ignorance from asian restaurants (not all, but most) even though I'm asian. And they wonder why they don't get good tips.
ewwwwwww
