When you want melt-in-your-mouth rotisserie chicken, go directly to El Pollo Rico in Arlington. This place is all about fabulous chicken served fast, friendly and at a fantastically inexpensive price. Chicken is the only entree on the menu. Your options are simple: quarter of a chicken, half a chicken or a whole chicken. The chicken is cooked in large, flame-broiled rotisserie ovens located right behind the counter.

Owner Victor Solano brought his authentic Peruvian chicken recipe from the old country. The mixture of spices is a family secret, known to the restaurant's large clientele as sheer perfection. All orders come with large steak fries, coleslaw and two sauces. The steak fries are a half-inch wide and a quarter-inch thick and fried to a golden crispy perfection. The sauces are distinctly Peruvian: One is a hot green chili sauce and the other a milder tangy mayonnaise base. It's counter-only service to insure you get your food within minutes of ordering.

Bigger is better with El Pollo Rico's Kenmore Street location. The dining room has plenty of room to seat any size party immediately, from two to 10 people. The Solano family has another location in Wheaton owned by Victor's brother Francisco. -- Robbin Zeff

  • Most Incredible Chicken EVER!

    Review rating : 5out of 5   Sarah1676 - 03/11/2009

I've never eaten more moist and flavorful chicken in my life (sorry, mom)! It is absolutely amazing and incredibly inexpensive for the amount of food you get (Under $15 for a whole chicken, fries and coleslaw)!

This place is one of the best eateries in Arlington! The chicken has real flavor and the prices are low. A quarter chicken with french fries and colslaw is $5.00 (At the time of this post ).
Forget trying to go there for a lunch at Noon. The line can back out the door. I try to be there by 11:00 for lunch and get mine to go. There is seating inside for probably 75 people or so.
I hope the bust of the Wheaton Md. store doesn't affect Arlington's. Seems the Md. shop had too many illegals working there.

  • THIS PLACE DOES IT RIGHT!!!!

    Review rating : 5out of 5   Nfanmail - 06/11/2008

What can I say except read any of the other reviews. Fast service and that unique South American staple chartcoal brioled chicken with Peru's distinctive spicing. Follow your nose, the charcoal broiler can be smelled blocks before you get to the place and when you do......."YUM! YUM!! EAT 'EM UP!!"

The only reason this place has not gotten better revues is because you have not tried it.

  • Don't Pass this place up!!!

This is the best chicken I have ever tasted. Their neighbors next door Super Chicken is excellent also. If you want to sit and eat go to Super Chicken. You can't go wrong with either place El Pollo or Super Chicken in regards to taste of the food. I used to work in the Silver Spring area and would go to lunch almost everyday to either at Pollo or Super. I have relocated north of Baltimore and don' t hesitate to drive almost 50 miles for this chicken on the weekends when I have a chance. This place is a bargin also. You can get one of the best tasting meals you have ever had for around $6. Food is better than any 5 star restaurant.
