Carolina's is part of the South Phoenix community, and its food is popular. Within the restaurant's barred windows are a takeout counter and dining room strewn with Best of Phoenix plaques on the walls and booths. But all that truly matters at Carolina's is the food. Chorizo, machaca, chicken and chiles are wrapped in tortillas made right on the spot. It's hard to leave without some tortillas to take home; resistance is futile. These award-winning flour creations are the foundation of Carolina's burros, including the Oaxaca Special burro that is so popular it's now a part of Phoenix lore. Carolina herself still directs the kitchen and runs a place teeming with neighborhood action. She even cooks up menudo on Saturdays, curing those Friday Happy Hour hangovers. The prices are cheap, the food is addictive and the atmosphere is barrio authentic.

dobiehaus - 08/19/2007food is fair to poor. the rice and beans are puky. the building is a dump with dirty restrooms/dineing area to boot. you certainly will not want to eat in! other than the tortillas being oversized they are no better than food city tortillas which cost less. there are a lot of other places with better food...............

tonif5371 - 04/14/2006Carolina's by far out rates any other restaurant in the valley when it comes to taste and price. My favorite is the oaxaca burrito, which has the best tasting chorizo I have ever had.

THE QAXACA BURRRO IS ABOUT THE BEST THEY HAVE, I HAVE EATEN THERE MANY TIMES AND TRIED ABOUT EVERY MEAL THEY SERVE THEY YET HAV'NT IMPRESSED ME AT ALL.. Food just like momma used to make at home. The no.8(2 cheese enchiladas with rice and beans) will fill you up,unless you add two beef tacos with the order.
