Every time you dine at 50 Forks, you eat someone's homework. The restaurant, known for its low prices and innovative dishes, is located in The Art Institute of California-Orange County. The students enrolled at the school run every aspect of the post-modern eatery: They all rotate shifts as a maitre d', wait staff, chef and even the dishwashing crew. Sure, the view of the campus parking lot and the lack of atmospheric lighting leave one wanting a bit more, but the food and service rival the best restaurants in OC. The menu changes constantly at the students' whim, but it's always centered around progressive American cuisine with a contemporary California twist such as a Yankee pot roast with lumpy mashed potatoes, braised short ribs served with roasted root vegetables and the salmon lacquered with mango glaze and tropical salsa.
