The tradition of family bonding around the dinner table is carried on at Monell's, where tables seating about a dozen gather for a genuine Southern meal, meat-and-three style. The beautiful building is found just seven blocks north of the state capitol in the historic Germantown area. While guests meet and greet one another, the superb staff serves a rotating menu that includes large bowls of vegetables, baskets of bread and main entrees like skillet fried chicken, pork chops, chicken and dumplings or country style steak. Piping hot dishes are passed around the table (always remember to pass to the left). The traditions of the south dont stop at dinner. Monells also serves Saturday country breakfast with fresh biscuits, gravy, cheese grits and much more. -- Heather Johnson

Just Love It!!!!!
Njylfe - 06/13/2008I'm originally from Nashville but I now live in Yorktown VA and when I come home with friends the first place I take them out to dine is at Monell's and they like I just love it we often sit and talk about it after we have returned from our trip of how we wish that there was a Monell's closer to us. My friends often tell me we should just jump on a plane and take all our closest friends and family from VA to Monell's because we love it so much. Please keep up the good work and I can't wait until my next visit.

JJett30169 - 06/13/2008The food was not good and I'm a southern girl. Too clumpy and too greasy. The Nashville location doesn't feel clean. I'd much prefer sitting with the people I know.

Old South Country Cookin
WSPetro - 05/22/2008My girlfriend and I had the pleasure of dining here on may 21, 2008. It has all of the charm of a good old fashioned after church social. Great atmosphere and down home country goodness. We ate entirely too much as the servers just kept bring more food than either of us could consume. All of which was prepared deliciously and much to our satisfaction. Way to go Monell's keep up the great job!
No Offense
mildthai - 09/08/2007Honestly, this was not what we expected. Hoping for a great home cooked meal for my father's 79th birthday. Went to Franklin location. This place will not be open long. Maybe the Nashville location is better, but absolutely nothing was worth eating except for the green beans. Concept is great eating with strangers and passing food around. Atmosphere is nice too--best classical guitarist I've heard in a while, but the food was grossness like I've never experienced. California reviewer, I hope Nashville was not like this, and if so, please don't think we all cook like this in the south--surely you were just being nice.
