One of the many popular Mexican restaurants in a vibrant ethnic community just south of downtown, this bar and grill serves strictly traditional fare. There's chicken broth in the rice and lard in the beans, and though this won't please vegetarians or health-conscious diners, the many regulars at Conejito's don't have any complaints. The menu features steak and chopped meat tacos, pork burritos, Mexican-style pork spare ribs, and chicken, beef, or cheese and onion enchiladas. Try the chicken in mole, an ancient Aztec chocolate sauce, for an exotic treat. Sides of guacamole, beans and sour cream are available.

Wash it all down with a domestic beer or an imported Mexican brew such as Corona, Tecate, Dos Equis or Negra Modelo. Sunday's menu includes savory huevos rancheros, an egg dish served with beans, rice, pork and tortillas. If you dig their signature homemade salsa, take it home by the pint. Call ahead on weekends to beat the crowds. -- Allison Jornlin

IM MEX I KNOW SOMEONE WHO KNOWS THE OWNER AND ASKED HIM WHY IS THE PRICES ARE SO LOW AND HE SAID I DONT NEED THE MONEY. IF YOU WANT A MEX. CANTINA FEEL THAT WOULD BE THE FRONT OF THE REST/BAR. IN BACK A VERY NICE REST. TO BRING YOUR FAM. FRIENDS. DURING THE DAY LOTS OF DOWNTOWN OFFICE YUPPIES. TOWARDS MIDNT. DRINKERS FOR CHEAP MEX. FOOD. ITS VERY DEL. INEXP. AND I WOULD PAY TWICE AS MUCH FOR IT IF I HAD TOO. BUT EL FUENTE HAS MORE SELECTION JUST AS GOOD BUT YOU PAY MORE.

Very different than it used to be. Wait staff are busy talking among each other so service is poor, a haven for drunks, food quality has significantly gone down to where it isn't even worth going because you know how bad it will be. prices are low but not even worth it for that.

The food and service at this joint rocks, it has a very addictive flavor for the true lover of Mexican food. The service is excellent during lunch hour, regardless of crowd size. The food is served up quick and fast. Who really cares about the paper plates, there not an issue when you want good food. After all don't people use them during picnics without complaints.
This was one of the 1st joints around and is still going strong for a reason, because it rocks!!!!!!!

I think the food is goood at a reasonable price. Personnaly, I enjoy the steak tacos with a side of beans or the chicken mole with white meat. If you enjoy Mexican beer have a Dos Equis or a Negra Modelo. Yes most of the food is served on paper plates, but who cares. You come for the good food and conversation with a few friends.
