Tell a metro Detroiter you've been to Ferndale, and odds are good the first thing they'll say is the city has a fantastic Thai restaurant. That would be May's Bangkok Express, a narrow, sparingly decorated storefront on West Nine Mile that's been serving up cheap, tasty Thai food for years. The restaurant has changed hands a few times, but its good reputation hasn't wavered. The simple menu offers Thai staples such as pad Thai, curry, garlic and pepper wings, rice noodles and stir fries; dishes are served up fast and spiced to your level of choice: mild, medium, hot or eye-watering.
