This is the real thing -- authentic '50s charm with a soda-shop look and feel. Burger House on Hillcrest probably looks the same today as it did in 1951, with some updates here and there. This appeal is what today's '50s-style diners shoot for, minus the cheesy cliches. Burger House serves up thick, juicy burgers that take two hands and lots of napkins to eat up. Unless you're a salt fiend, you might ask for your fries "lightly salted." They really pour on their "Famous Seasoned Salt." For a sumptuous alternative to their burgers, try Zoe's Chicken Sandwich Supreme -- the chicken sandwich that must make all other chicken sandwiches jealous. It's a grilled breast smothered in bacon, Swiss cheese and grilled onions. The hot dogs are to die for, too. Top off your meal with an old-fashioned cherry or vanilla Coke. Burger House hasn't forgotten how greasy-spoon food should taste -- sinful and delicious. -- Lisa Olson

I remember growing up on Jack's Famous Burger and Fries. They are as Great today as they were Yesterday. I live in Seagoville, yet I make the hour drive to Jack's Burger House atleast once a month! Thier seasoned salt is the secret to it all. Thier burgers are a hand full, and the boat of fries will feed two. This tiny hole in the wall restaurant is perfect for a quick afternoon lunch, or a cozy casual dinner. Not recommended for the Snobbish Upper Class Patrons! There's no tablecloths, silverwear, Breakable glasswear, or cloth napkins. This is a down to earth, blue collar eating restaurant, with people from all walks of life dinning there.
So, if you dont like mingleing with us commoners... Go else where!

I went to Burger house for the first time last night. My initial impression was "God I hope I don't get food poisoned". Inside, it was real small, and it kind of feels like a real waffle house. I ordered a cheeseburger and fries, and while my food was being made I walked around the restaurant.

While walking around the restaurant, I began to really appriciate this diamond in the rough. I read about Jack the founder and saw the pictures of Troy Dungan (the local weatherman here in Dallas) and Conway Twitty. Then somehow I began chatting with a few customers (a couple of locals and a college student). So although it was small, it was cool because it made it a cozy atmosphere that brought people together and made it not such a lonely experience for a lonely diner.

After chatting, I got my burger and fries and found a place to eat in the small dining room. The burger was as good as any place in town. The bread was fresh, the meat was well cooked, and it was hot when I took my first bite. The fries were great too. Apparently the restaurant was one of the pioneers of seasoned fries, and I consider them to be a little better than the chili's fries. Overall the meal was excellent and I did not get sick, which was my initial worry.

I totally recommend The Burger House. It was a great experience eating there because the food was great, the staff was friendly, and the environment was a warm environment that brought people together. I hope this helps for you who have not had this place. I was in no way compensated for this review; I just thought that place was so good that I would commend it.
