From the art paraphernalia on the walls to the ballsy proclamation on the menu, "Sh*t yeah we cater too!" Baby Blues down-home barbecue has its own special blend of flavor, exemplified by named items such as the "Suicide King" beef to the "Get Down Miss Brown" pulled pork plate. The tables are finished in a subtle shade of teal and on top of them sit several squirt bottles with homemade sauces -- from vinegar to BBQ to the "porno" hot sauce. Full slabs of rib specialties (smoked babies and Memphis style), po' boys (blackened catfish and shrimp) and even succulent grilled BBQ shrimp hail from D.C. and North Carolina grills. For rib hounds, know that Baby Blues' racks are slowly smoked and rubbed with pepper and spices. And the same spiced blueprint exists for the smoked chicken sandwich and blackened Mississippi catfish, as well. For fixins, go for the sweet mash or corn-on-the-cob with Cotija cheese. But don't expect too much else from the decor -- it's minimalist at its finest, small and exactly what you might expect from this decaying section of Lincoln Boulevard.

RonaldWeekley - 07/25/2008I remember the day Baby Blues opened. I was one of their first customers. Baby Blues is more than the Best Bar BQ restaurant in the County of Los Angeles. It is also home to many Westside residents. It is a place where everyone is welcomed, well fed and validated. Upon your first visit to Baby Blues you are as likely to see your favorite Soap Opera Star as you are to run into family, old friends or make new friends. Baby Blues has mastered the essence of creating a open and friendly community enviornment while serving delicious food. However, it is impossible to talk about Baby Blues food without highlighting the owners Rick and Danny. These two guys shared a vision, supported by friends and family, to open up a Bar BQ restaurant that served delicious food for the body and friendly customer service, care and sensitivity for the soul. When you come into the restaurant you will likely see Danny or Rick on the grill serving up the next side of baby-back ribs and they are the best ribs on planet earth. But dont worry, if Danny or Rick are not on the grill, once you get seated one of them will likely stop by your table to say hello and welcome! There are many good barbeque places in Los Angeles, and Baby Blues is one. There are subtle differences in the taste of the meat. They use a mix of Apple and Hickory wood and their rub is slightly middle eastern. you can taste under tones of cinnamon which makes this BBQ unique. While a good BBQ place, this is not the best in LA. No Knocks, No snobery it's just that when you have tasted most of the BBQ in town, you will come to know that there is better. Don't believe me? Start Eating around or make your own.

ribmasterIII - 07/08/2008The wait was well worth it. I ate at baby Blue's 3 times in a week and still want more. Best BBQ I've ever had. Portions are good, service was excellent. I did have to wait each time to get seated but I guess that is because everyone knows that it is the best. i was not disappointed. The ribs and pulled pork are my favorites but the sides are excellent too. Did i mention that the waitresses are hot! All around a great experience.

spsolo9 - 07/06/2008First of all, I think we all know who "JackCalifornia5" is. Imbecile!!! Sorry your California rib joint couldn't compare to Carl's Jr. let alone Baby Blues but do leave these poorly worded reviews is absolutely abhorrent. You should be ashamed of yourself on so many levels!
Now, as far as Baby Blues is concerned........WOW!!!! There isn't an item on that menu I don't salivate in my sleep over. OK, maybe that doesn't sound appealing but I think you can see where I'm going with this. The best.......by far! Keep it up Baby!! A must try!- Theamn1 - 07/06/2008

not worth the trip
JackCalifornia5 - 07/02/2008After hearing all the hype about Baby Blues BBQ I was excited about finding a place that serves both Carolina pulled pork and baby back ribs. I was taken back by what a "dive" BBBBQ really is. The tables were dirty, the chairs were ripped and torn like they had been found in the trash in a back alley in the getto. BBQ sauce was splattered and dried on the wall and crusted on the BBQ dispenser. On the wall was a chalk board with a long list of every item they were out of and it was only 2:30 on a Saturday. Had we know this we would not of waited 45 minutes to be seated. The baby backs were not worth the wait and the chicken sandwich was so dry and over cooked that we did not even eat and left. For as many employees as there was working , you would think the service would of been better. They all seemed dazed and confused running all over one another.
Now thats BBQ
MMoss1012 - 06/30/2008I was ifn town for a few days and my kids wanted to take me to the BEST BBQ. And I must agree. We sat at the counter,had great service and watched the cooks do their thing with amazing perfection. Later on the owner came over to make sure everything was great.
