Fifteen booths fill this small family restaurant that features special Texas BBQ sauce. Always crowded, Dr. Hogly Wogly's is known for serving gargantuan portions of ribs, brisket and smoked chicken, and meat-lovers couldn't be happier. Friendly waitresses start you out with warm bread and butter, then you choose from items such as beef ribs, sliced leg of pork, Texas Tyler hot links, BBQ sandwiches and combinations. Sides include baked beans, macaroni salad, cole slaw and potato salad. Texas-style BBQ sauce comes in hot and mild versions, and customers come from all over just to sample it. If you have room, desserts include a sweet potato pie and an even sweeter pecan pie. Some advice: Don't ask for a salad here.

Sweet isn't always great

The sauce will give you cavities and keep you up all night, it is just a little too sweet for my taste. I was told they soak the ribs in sugar water even before the cook them ,and slather on the sugary Bar-B-Que sauce like there is no tomorrow, and it certainly tastes like that is the case.
I went twice, thinking maybe I caught it on a bad day, but it was the same both times, OK, but not worth a return visit.Add Commentfantastic!
candywriter09 - 07/25/2008It's pretty damn good bbq in my opinion - and I've sampled lots of different styles of barbecue! If you're used to Missouri and Tennessee style bbq, you probably won't like it. The portions are huge and the food is delicious. Simply one of the best bbq restaurants in LA!

The best Brisket and Macaroni salad ever!
Rsenigram - 07/01/2008My family and I love Dr. Hogley Wogley's. It is quite a drive from where we live in Hollywood, but when we want BBQ. that's where we head to. The Brisket of Beef is the best. It is so tender that you can cut it with a fork. The macaroni salad which I am sure is fattning, but so delicious, worth the calories. The beef ribs are also really tasty! The plates are enormous! But, if you don't eat too much, the pecan pie is fabulous! Try it a la mode!

I Loved Texas for the bbq. the slow smoke, dry rub, ribs and brisket.
I dont drive all over the country anymore.
so if I want that same kind of good food, I have out to see the Dr.
He has the Prescription for you.
The Meat it self is tasty enough to bring you here,then you add some sauce to the party and it really takes off.
I have seen people mop up extra sauce with bread.
