Tour the late twentieth century from the comfort of your own booth at the Bubba Gump Shrimp Co. as it expands to Universal CityWalk. One of America's most unusual chain restaurants, it borrows its theme from the Oscar-winning film 'Forrest Gump.' In the movie, gentle-hearted, simpleminded Forrest befriends Bubba, the son of a shrimp fisherman, in Vietnam, who eventually inspires Forrest to open a seafood restaurant. A few years after the film's release, some not-so-simpleminded entrepreneurs decided to actualize Forrest's fictional eatery, and thus Bubba Gump was born.
Although the food is tasty (try the signature Forrest's Shrimp "Net Catch" or the Bourbon Street Mahi Mahi) diners don't come to Bubba Gump for authenticity. Just as 'Forrest Gump' offered the Cliffs' Notes version of American history, the accompanying restaurant offers a Cliffs' Notes version of a seafood menu, most notable for its fun cantina atmosphere, liberally peppered with allusions to the film. There are non-seafood choices, too, including Bubba's After the Storm "Bucket of Boat Trash," Dixie Style BBQ Ribs and dessert faves such as Mama's Cinnamon Bread Pudding and the Sparklin' Apple Cobbler. Before departing, check out the kid-friendly gift shop, complete with shrimp-themed stuffed toys.

Horrible service
Worst service you could ever imagine. They have no sense of putting the customer 1st at all. They try to upsale everything from the beer to the shrimp without any explanation as to why its better to get a bigger glass of beer instead of a regular size. The manager Brad is too busy to come to your table because he has bigger issues to deal with, The server Adam E. is just a rude little punk, and the manager Jeremy has no manager skills whatsoever. Doesnt do anything to ease your frustrations as a paying customer. Never again will I go back there or suggest it to anyone that I know.

My very first experience there was very memorable and each of my returns has lived up to that first time. I have tried ALMOST everything on their menu but really do stick to my favorites....Accidental Fish 'n Shrimp! MMmmmm....and their pulled pork sandwich. Last time I was there I was with my family and the servers there really engaged with my kids which has made them BEG me to take them there for almost every meal! There is something about the restaurant that makes you want to smile when you see most everyone that is working their has a smile as well. Its contagious, and it lets you know you are in for a great dinning experience. If you have not been yet...you MUST MUST go!

BACK IN TIME

where else can you go and be transported back to a simpler time. The servers truly add to the experience.
The food was exciting for a seafood lover like myself.
It is a great experience to take out of town travelers. Cant wait to go back!!!AWESOME FAMILY JOINT
If you are a fan of Forrest Gump, if you like great food, huge portions and amazing service AND have a family...this is the place to go! I have a 3 1/2 year old son and a 14 yr old daughter and they just adore this place. There is so much going on here, the servers are energetic, attentive and scarily peppy! There is always some kind of comotion going on. We just love the movie trivia and the Birthday songs are OUTRAGEOUS. OH and I did I mention the food? You will never leave here hungry--and if you don't like seafood they have a fried chicken plate to die for!! Don't forget to try the Louisiana Lemonade, it is sweet and has a nice kick, and you get a glass! If you haven't been there you must try it!
Great fun for the family
My family and I had a wonderful time here. They catered to my daughter very well and made sure she had fun. Now she always wants to go back!
