This isn't really an old and weathered Irish pub, but it's a pretty darn good reproduction of one. In fact, many patrons consider it one of the best in the Bay Area and even the country. As friendly as can be, O'Reilly's pours at least 20 draught beers on tap and 20 single-malt whiskeys, all served from behind a spectacular, 30-feet-long mahogany bar with stained glass panels. Near the rear of the bar is a sweeping mural of famous Irish writers, including Oscar Wilde, W.B. Yeats and Samuel Beckett. The resulting atmosphere resonates with warm coziness, like the classic chicken pot pie that can be found on the full menu.

If you're both hungry and thirsty, O'Reilly's is the place to go. Dig into heartwarming, rib-sticking Gaelic dishes such as a chunky chowder of bacon, potato and cabbage, beef-and-Guinness soup, Finnan haddie (which features smoked cod), and Irish lamb stew. Other substantial dishes include the beef stroganoff, grilled New York steak, double-cut pork chop and any one of the 8-once burgers. At lunchtime there's a simpler menu of pub grub such as cottage pie and fish-and-chips. The patio is a nice location for a laid-back weekend brunch and a hefty pint o' Guinness, expertly poured, of course.
