In a city famous for foodies and fine dining, a place like Giorgio's Pizzeria can feel like a relief. No foie gras, wine list or oyster bar -- just a good, old-fashioned pizza place, the kind you used to go to after Little League games. The waitresses wear jeans, plastic grapes hang from the ceiling and the tablecloths are of the unstainable, red-checked variety. Giorgio's makes a darn good pie, which explains why there is often a bit of a wait for a table. The thin-crust pizzas are covered with a hearty tomato sauce and traditional toppings -- no Thai peanut chicken pizza here. Their pasta menu has family favorites like spaghetti and meatballs (a good choice) and lasagna. Wine comes by the glass or carafe, and there's no need to inquire about its origin.
