If you want to check out one of the the cooler dance music spots in the newly revitalized Tenderloin, take a trip to the corner of Sutter and Taylor to the Cellar. Though apple martinis are the house specialty, most music listeners and dancers are generally holding bottles of beer while checking out DJs. Over the course of the week, patrons can hear everything from hip-hop and '80s hits at Super Fluff Skirt (on Fridays) to drum 'n' bass at Compression (on Sundays). There's a red velvet pool table in its own little alcove (though there's not a lot of room to swing a cue) and a side room for a tiny bit of intimacy during the week. The vibe at the Cellar is young, loud, fun and well worth checking out.

80s Night

The Cellar has the best Friday 80s Night I've been to, but if you don't like 80s there's another room/dance floor that plays hiphop, and there is a bar in each room. There's a pool table and the place feels and looks lush; a nice blend of trashy and classy. This club is a masterful illusion at night; when the bright lights flick on at 2 in the morning, you see that it's really just a basement with amazing lighting, pretty fantastic music, and some good dancers...
