In Cole Valley, even the burger joints are cozy, thoughtfully decorated and low-key. Burgermeister serves up generous Niman Ranch patties with a wheelbarrow full of fries, fresh condiments and fluffy yellow buns in a slick, warmly lit cafeteria that practically hollers "genteel yuppie." Lemon garlic fries are pungent but uniquely savory, the milkshakes are divinely thick and Burgermeister (wisely) serves beer. The juicy burgers are delicious, and obviously prepared with great care. The only (minor) flaw at this neighborhood spot is that it refuses to get sloppy. Nobody can fault the ingredients or the preparation, but what do you do with a chili burger that doesn't ooze? -- Julie Ross

Hairs in Salad
SfcaRoy - 01/23/2009I use to like eating at Burgermeister at least twice a week until last year when I found some black hairs in my Meister Salad w/grilled chicken breast.

so,so. garlic fries how much did they pay for your reveiw and expensive
$29.00 for cheeseburger / fries & cheesesteak/ fries/ + 2 sodas. The food

JonHalkyon - 05/28/2008I was excited to try the place, but the burgers seemed dry and lost in the bun -- and the fries were soggy as if they'd been sitting out for awhile. Maybe they were having a bad day when I went.
It's about the beef
ZMcConnell - 05/16/2008How can you make a great burger without great beef? Many burger outfits seem to think that with great sauce, good fries, and good buns they can go cheap on the meat. That's like my old Karmann-Ghia; a beautiful sports car body with a VW beetle engine. When I buy a burger, I want the burger itself to be great. And Niman Ranch beef is simply the best I have tasted. Ground chuck, ground fresh every day. Can't beat that.

Ijoke4u - 05/16/2008This place has the BEST burgers and food (overall). The beef is Neiman beef, grass feed cows, and you can tell the difference! They have a wide variety other foods to choose from, but the Burgers are the BEST I ever tasted. The places is SUPER clean and they have EXCELLENT customer service. I highly recommned BurgerMeister to anyone. They have several locations thru out the Bay Area and all of them are EXCELLENT.

sarlat96 - 02/28/2007I have to agree with some of the earlier posts. Granted, this spot is very clean and attractive inside. Nevertheless, I don't think any of these people that rate it so highly know what they are talking about.
I prefer my "Burgs" charcoaled and the french fries to be very crispy and seasoned and this place is not that. Also, the rolls are comme si comme ca. For all the Rocky Mountain Hooples that rate this place so highly I say Try the Char Hut in Fort Lauderdale,. then you will learn what a Hamburg is all about. I have yet to see a "Burg" in San Francisco as good as what is available in ordinary places in South Florida. i am sick of all of this foodie hype and the local places that are touted so highly that really do not deliver much.burger lover
pamhowlandsf - 12/26/2006Burgers are quite good IF they prepare them as ordered. Sometimes they overcook. Forget the fries, they are NOT good.
