This has to be the worst place I have ever been to. I was taken to my table by Ingrid, who has shamelessly promoted her book everywhere ( I read part of it and it sucks - she is way too self absorbed and her recipe's suck.)and she was quite rude. My date and I were in the middle of dessert when a manager came to my table and told us to move into the bar because he needed that table for dinner. Unbelieveable! For the prices that they charge I should get that table for a week! Croce's is a total tourist trap and it's unfortunate to see that the widow is profiting off of hte memory of her dead husband who she was ready to divorce before he died. Unbelieveable. STAY AWAY FROM CROCE'S!

3Dec99 - Early dinner so no waiting! Great location, The Gaslamp District is fabulous. The food was excellent, a duck entree very nicely prepared. Filet migon cooked to perfection (and difficult to do with a "medium well" request! The garlic mashed potatoes are worth a visit alone. Sauteed root vegetables in place of the old standards were delicious and a refreshing change. The service itself was good, however, we had an upstairs balcony table and "something" downstairs was extremely interesting to the wait staff, there was a constant parade past our table to stand at my partner's elbow and peer down. It did get very annoying. Add a very ungracious hostess who had the lovely habit of throwing the menus on to the table from a distance of three feet and wheeling away (I observed this all night so it wasn't just that she was quite put out that we didn't want the table in the serving/entry/exit lane and requested a table upstairs.) I would say the service needs some fine tuning but the food and the excellent jazz coming through the open door to the adjacent club offset these problems. Fix them and you've got a superb night out.

We visited your rest. 2/97 on our first trip to San Deigo. We loved it. The food service and quality was worth bragging about.
During our dining experience we were filmed as part of an intertainment commercial for cable tv. Our friends have had the opportunity to view this commercial but we have not. I would appreciate a copy of the tape (at our expence) to be sent to us if it is possible. This will tape will make a great addition to the photos and memories we have of our trip to San Diego. Thanks.
