At first glance, Johnny Rebs' looks like some sort of new Knott's Berry Farm attraction: The rickety-looking roadhouse is constructed with worn wooden planks, sheet metal and used brick, but it's all just a facade. Johnny Rebs' is actually the home of some of the best southern cooking and soul food in Orange County. Naturally, barbecue is king here. The ribs are a classic staple, but waiters confirm that the BBQ beef sandwich with a side of collard greens and sweet potato fries are the most common item ordered (of course, the fried catfish with southern slaw and hush puppies is a close second). If you have an hour to spare in the morning before work, indulge in the restaurant's old fashioned country breakfast: The barbecue omelet, the blackened catfish and eggs and the biscuits and gravy are just three of over 35 morning dishes in which to indulge.

Splitennz - 06/30/2008I have been to Johnny Rebs 3 times. The first time was very intertaining, but the food was mediocre. The second time we had a rude waiter AND bad food. The final time ended with my refusal to pay for the bad food & service. Never again!

AffairsRem - 06/06/2008We eat there every time wo leave the dentist office down the street. Love the food, great BBQ and those sweet potato fries! Great lemonade and the catfish is very good.Kids live it there. They make thsi Blue Cheese Hamburger that rocks!

goofygalann - 03/05/2006This is the place people!! I tried it for the first time on a Saturday...took my Mom to treat her. We went back and brought my husband and son for dinner the next day! We had a celebrity site too....we saw Kellie, Kinnik and Mandesa from American Idol 2006!!! See they know what is good...being from the south they must of missed 'home cookin'!! Let me tell you IF you like tri tip and IF you like pulled pork...this is slow roasted, cooked to perfection heaven on earth!!! Good quality meats and wonderful bbq flavor! You get to munch on peanuts at your table and let the shells go to the floor (my son liked this rebel act). Very good wait staff...friendly..down home style. HUGE mason jars serve as your drinking glass. They make 'fun' of country in a good way. Can't wait to go back and try other items. My son had the kids catfish...got to try it for the first time myself...was good. Great place, great people...will return!!! :) Hope this rating helps you decide to give it a try...you won't be sorry!!!
