If anyone knows what America wants in a steakhouse, it's Paul Fleming. Before launching his own dining concept, he developed and operated a little chain called Ruth's Chris. Now, he and co-founder Bill Allen are introducing the country to a different kind of steakhouse -- one that's expansive, contemporary and warm instead of dark, masculine and clubby. A hundred wines are available by the glass, almost another hundred by the bottle. It adds a whole new dimension to the dining experience. Food-wise, Fleming's can hold its own with any of the old boys' clubs. Tasty appetizers and fresh, inventive salads make way for thick cuts of prime beef, served a tad rarer than at most places, on a piping-hot plate. Everything's a la carte, but a single side dish can easily serve two.
Restaurants, whether in Austin or Boston, feature the same golden-toned lighting, roomy leather booths and burnished wood paneling. The wine-by-the-glass list is easy to read and understand, and the ambience is comfortable and lively -- just as the founders intended it to be.

The service was great. The
wine list awesome. The drinks were awesome. The
sides were tastey and
the prime rib & lobster
were the best I've eaten
in along time. Excellent! Better than
Morton's and Ruth Chris.

This is a very good steakhouse. I have eaten at this particular location on a dozen occasions and it always shows itself well. The steaks are very good, a solid 8.5 out of 10. The sides are excellent, the calimari appetizer maybe the best I have ever encountered. Service is on par with any of the great steakhouses. The chocolate souffle is superb and the creme brule is is done very well. Very similar too Ruths Chris but a much more comfortable appeal. Very friendly to Beach casual and Dressy alike. My own tastes are the only things that keep this from a 5 star rating. A recent trip included the bone in filet mignon that certainly is a must try.

Steaks overcooked. Bland side dishes. Overpriced wine.
A manager who doesn't care. How does this "restaurant" stay in business?ADupuis's Review
Maybe I was there on an "off" night, but I had to send the steak back twice because it wasn't even close to the way I ordered it. I haven't been back since.

My wife and I went to Flemmings to celebrate our anniversary. The service was impeccable. The food is unsurpassed. The steak is the best we've ever had.

Great salads, sides and steaks. Exceptional selection of wine by the glass is a real plus. Knowledgeable and pleasant servers. A bit noisy and crowded.
