Hailed as the oldest commercial structure in Newport Beach (built in 1912), Blue Beet is a neighborhood favorite for steak, seafood and live blues. Adjacent to the pier, the shorefront dining room boasts 1940s collectibles, wood walls and a breezy upstairs patio. The clientele ranges from surfers in board shorts to older couples, and everyone enjoys the laid-back vibe. Since the boardwalk is always full of tourists and beachcombers, there are plenty of walk-in customers. A reasonably priced menu and friendly staff make Blue Beet a popular place. Burgers, fish and chips, and sandwiches are featured at lunch, and Blue Beet's famed creamed corn draws the dinner crowds. Entrees such as filet mignon, swordfish steaks and lobster tails are served with a side of mashed potatoes and gravy. You can eat in the small dining room or at the bar; most seats have ocean views.

The Blue Beet has cuts of the finest steak I have ever tasted. It is a toss between the tasty baseball cut sirlion and the rib eye. Although I would have to say the flagship steak of the Blue Beet is the bacon wrapped filet mignon. Hmmmm. I also like the cajon peel and eat shrimp with a side of Sids cheesy garlic bread. If you like great food, excellent music, beautiful clientele, and bartenders that keep a heavy hand-pouring the best drink in orange county for a good price- I would have to say that the Blue Beet is a must for anyone who lives in or visits Orange County.

I love the fact that this restaurant has a little late-night window serving tacos. Wish you were open past 2:00 when everyone is HUNGRY
