Figure fragrant fowl for the swift and sustained success of Southern California's Cuban restaurant chain Versailles. A casual eatery where splashy, colorful decor and long waits go hand-in-hand, Versailles -- which makes historical reference to the period of Cuban prosperity following the 1763 signing of the Treaty of Versailles -- is locally famous for its onion-covered roasted garlic chicken, a split-bird portion of tangy breath demolition that is the favorite dish for takeout. The kiss-killing dish is just one of the many items on the restaurant's signature island menu, which also includes such hearty specialties as rib-eye steak, liver steak and onions, paella valenciana, grilled king fish, breaded pork chops and shredded beef. To round out the main course most orders come with side orders of white rice, fried plantains and soupy black beans. Cuban-curious patrons can also choose to sample one of Versailles' imported soft drinks or sip on milkshakes made with banana, coconut, papaya or other fruit for a sweet finish to their meal. -- Jesse Torres

Awesome
Versaille has a been a favorite for years. The meals are big enough for two. Thats the real deal. So it's not expensive At All!

Love It
Certainly not for the snob, though I've met some snobs that have become true believers. My family ate their every Friday night for nearly 3 years. The food is always good, usually fresh, and the service is great. It's like eating at home with someone else doing the cooking. The waiters are always gracious, attentive, and down to earth. Boo to the "Bottom Feeder" comment from the anal reviewer.

YUCK!
I can't for the life of me figure out why this restaurant is even on this list???!!! The food is MEDIOCRE at best.
Blah food, lousy black beans... no flavor!
There MUST be other ... better ...Cuban restaurants in town ... somewhere???Best chicken I have ever had!

Every bite of their specialty, the #6 Garlic Chicken, is heaven. I drive as much as 15 miles to eat here and when I'm in the area, I make it a point to eat at Versailles. The ribeye steak was mediocre, but the chicken is so good.
.
I have been going here for almost 20 years, if u want food for under 10 and to fill u up come to versailles.
