  • WAY OVER RATED

    Review rating : 2out of 5   e3502006 - 01/06/2007

THIS PLACE IS WAY OVER RATED. I WENT THERE FOR MY ANNIVERSARY AND THE VIEWS ARE NOT WHAT EVERY ONE SAYS. THE HOTEL LOOKS LIKE IT IS ABOUT TO FALL DOWN.AND I MUST SAY THE SHRIMP AND PASTA WAYS "OKAY" THE STEAK SUCKED. THE SERVICE IS GREAT BUT IT'S WAY OVER PRICED.....TRUST ME GO SOME WHERE ELSE ROMANTIC.....ANY WHERE.

  • Don't waste your money!

    Review rating : 1out of 5   minickels - 01/05/2007

We hated the Sky Room restaurant. The service was horrible. It took 2 1/2 hours to get a salad and bread. When we questioned the overabundant wait staff, we got a snippy response. The food came almost 3 hours after we arrived. It was luke warm at best and average tasting. The price was over $200 for lousy service and below average food. View and music were the only good things we experienced. There are much better places to eat in Long Beach for the money.

  • A Great Birthday Celebration

    Review rating : 4out of 5   wilmaroger - 12/31/2006

My husband took me to the Sky Room last night to celebrate one of the "Big Os". Although at first when we were greeted by the elevator attendant and got into the rather old, rickety elevator I was apprehensive about what to expect. Then, we were seated at a little table with a bad view. But, when we asked for a nicer table, with a better view, saying it was a special occasion, the staff could not have been nicer. We were moved to a larger room in the back with a nice large booth table and wonderful view. From there it only got better! The service was wonderful. The food was very good, but not the best we have ever had. Except for the breads, they were fantastic--very special! The wine was also great. Not so the after dinner Manhattan--the bartender needs a lesson in making them. It was a very memorable evening and we are glad we went there. There is a special quality about the place that is hard to define--it was elegant, yet comfortable. Also, it seemed as if all ages were welcome. A nice place to have a family celebration--even though quite expensive. All things considered, it was a very nice experience. The music and dancing was so much fun--we definitely will go back. The only reason I cannot honestly give the place a five star recommendation, is the food was not the best I have ever eaten and my husband thought the lamb was tough. My Sea Bass was good--but not prepared in an exceptional way as it is at the Balboa Bay club. But--we will go back, as there is more to it than just the food, which was very good. Maybe next time we will have the filet mignon and who knows? Will let you know.

  • Enjoyable

    Review rating : 4out of 5   wnims10372 - 12/28/2006

It is a bit pricy, however my wife and I save it for special occasions and out of town guests, or hosts. Mr. Williams on the piano is wonderful and the service is great.

  • Great Restaurant

    Review rating : 4out of 5   porrmd - 12/28/2006

In contrast to a previous reviewer who doubts the validity of these positive reviews I suspect the negative reviews are set up. My lady and I save the Sky Room for really special occasions. The combination of decor, view, service, and great music for dancing coupled with fine food makes this an irresistably romantic spot for that very special evening.

  • Not worth the money

    Review rating : 1out of 5   davec0001 - 12/27/2006

Ordered the steak which was pretty similar to the ones you can get at Outbacks for a lot cheaper. Really disappointing.. spent a lot of money for medicore food. spent over 300 that night for food that was worth only maybe 60

  • FANTASTIC

    Review rating : 5out of 5   palorr - 12/27/2006

What a combination of view, ambience, food, service, music, and dancing. The pianist is wonderful. He REALLY reads and plays to his audience. The pianist/combo and the orchestra are also great. A "Can't Miss" for a truly wonderful romantic evening and very special occasions.
