Action starts here at the crack of dawn, when surfers stumble in for coffee and short stacks before hitting the waves. Later on, crowds line up for omelets, sandwiches, daily blue plate specials, Wednesday's turkey dinner, and all the other home-style fare that owner Michele Turner has been serving for the past three decades. Not only is the food delicious and cheap, but the service is the best in town, according to local polls. The saying around Huntington Beach is that you're not even a surfer till you've clocked some hours at this place.

The front and back patios are quickest to fill up on sunny days, but the dining room is fairly comfy too. It's more homey than the typical greasy spoon, with framed photos covering the walls and servers that allow you to take your time. Don't be surprised if you spot a surfing legend at the very next table.

    THE WRONG WEB SITE ADDRESS IS LISTED THROUGH AOL AT THIS TIME THERE IS NOT A WEB ADDRESS AVAILABLE. ALSO THE INFORMATION POSTED ABOUT DOGS IN INCORRECT. THE CITY OF HUNTINGTON BEACH DOES NOT ALLOW DOGS IN ANY OUTSIDE RESTAURANTS IN THE DOWNTOWN AREA DUE A CITY HEALTH CODE.

    Sugar Shack might not be the cheapest place to eat but it is one of the best! The pancakes are AWESOME and all the food tastes fresh and good. Real orange juice and not the concentrate you get at the chains that's more of an orange drink. There is also plenty of health food choices.

    The food was average. I had the Michele's Special which was chicken breast and egg whites with a bagel and fruit on the side. The chicken breast was a tad bit dry and the egg whites with bell peppers didn't have much of a taste either. We had raisan bread toast and sausage on the side. The sausage tasted like Mcdonalds sausages. However, the raisan bread was very delicious. My friend had a vegetable omelette with mushrooms and bean sprouts, which was pretty good. The grapefruit juice was very delicious too.
    This place is average and I wouldn't highly recommend it unless you are in the area.

    This is my favorite place to eat for breakfast in downtown HB. The wait on a weekend morning can be a little long, but the outdoor seating is great as well as the food and friendly service.

    Great/fun atmosphere, Best Breakfast we had (6-4-06) while visiting Orange County...from Pennsylvania. Take it from a former East Coast Surfer!

    Best breakfast in town evidenced by the one-hour wait on any weekend. The food is delicious. The atmosphere is unmatched.
