Tucked away in the corner of the Long's Drugstore mini-mall on 17th Street, this omelet house is what local breakfast aficionados like to refer to as "cozy," thanks to snug booths, friendly help, and the 'Little House on the Prairie'-like touches scattered around the dining area. The ambiance is further enhanced by paintings of livestock, English kitchenware on display and what looks like real foliage hanging from the ceiling.

Don't stand around gazing too long, however. Things move pretty fast around here. Waitresses and busboys zip through the narrow aisles with platters full of food to get through the lengthy waiting list. Reservations are only taken on the premises, so count on at least a 30-minute wait and a constant line at the register. If you don't mind rubbing elbows with those seated next to you, you'll fit in well here.

Open until 3PM for lunch every day, the real reason this place is still around is its inexpensive, fast and no-nonsense breakfasts -- especially their omelets. Go with the deluxe waffles or pancake combos, which are topped with mounds of whipped cream and fresh fruit of your choice. It's a breakfast your grandmother would make that's served in half the time. -- Michael Alarcon

This is my favorite breakfast spot in OC! I used to live in Costa Mesa, but have moved to Buena Park; I still come to the Omelette Parlor regularly. The atmosphere is the best (relaxed, informal)! The food is GREAT; the best omelettes, potatoes and coffee. The help is always friendly, to the extreme. When I asked for change, to buy a paper, the hostess gave me 50 cents of her own money, then told me to look in the kitchen, where I found a stack of papers that other customers had left.

  • Definitely A Winner!

We tryed this place for the first time and it was really great! I had the first omelette that was on the menu and it was fantastic. I think it was called mrs. beechers. The coffee and the service were great too! I plan to go back soon.

Gigantic and tasty omelettes of all kinds (try the Hawaiian or any of the ones named after local sites or personalities), yummy hash browns, terrific coffee, friendly service -- what's not to like? If you're not at work some weekday morning, that's the perfect time to come here -- it's not as crowded as on the weekends.
