Best Steak I ever had
I don't know if the rib eye was extra delicious the last time I was there because I was so hungry, but everything was beyond perfect, one of my best dining experiences of the year. it is a little dark but I enjoyed myself tremendously better than BOA.

Mastro has by far the best filet mignon in town and rib eye. Taken many clients to Mastro and they all agree it is the best dining experience. If you want it quiet, try downstairs; if you want to listen to piano bar and make some friends, try upstairs. If you are looking for a quiet romantic evening, go somewhere else and leave Mastro for folks like us who want to have a fun. The waiters are top-notch professionals. Yes, sometimes it can take a while for your table to be ready, or for the food to arrive, but have a drink, relax and enjoy the experience. You will be treated very well if you don't walk in with attitude.
Dark and poor service

IIt was so dark that I could not see my food. Service was poor, rude and unattentive. Why this steakhouse is rated so high is a mystery. The only thing going for them is that a few famous people dine there and the waiter could not help but point their tables out. Big deal!. He an the restaurant are snobs and the food is fair.
If you like eating in the dark ---
It was so dark I couldn't see what I was eating. Seemed to taste o.k. but Mortons is much better.
Best Service.. Best Food.. Best CheeseCake
I must say, this by far is the best Steak House off Rodeo Drive period. With a porterhouse steak that fills your plate, succulent halabit, and quite possibly the best maccaroni and cheese you have ever had. Their cheese cake servings are the size of a reguarl cheese cake and their service is better than that of Spago or the CUT.
Have gone there every time I've vistited and will continue to go there for the atmosphere. Downstairs is a well lit dining area, however if you want the night life and the party crowd, head on upstairs to the bar and main dining room where the ambiance is alluring and the piano player's will entertain you well into the morning hours.
A must try for all who visit the greater Los Angeles Area. What a disappointment....

Not what you expect from a place like Mastro's. I have been many places that may rank below Mastro's and had much better service. 1st I was seated 1 hour after my reservation. No apologies was offered and when I asked about the delay, the attitude was just like well "**** happens". the wait staff and management did nothing to address the situation. So instead of 9PM dinner we ended havinng a 10:30 dinner Manager showed at the table and offered one lousy drink.
The food is basic and nothing more than an over priced piece of meat. compared to Ruth Chris and Lawrey's, Morton's these guys are at Par at best.
At the end they complained about their low tip!!!!
Never againunbelievably good!!!
Had dinner at Mastro's last evening and was very hesitant to go given the July AOL reviews I had read. We all had the filet with bone and it was excellent - the best steak I have ever had! The lobster mashed potatoes were to die for. We couldn't have asked for better service. Our waiter was very friendly, attentive and helpful. As for the atmosphere - it was nice to be able to sit in a restaurant and actually be able to carry on a nice conversation with everyone at the table. Mastro's is pricey, but the food, the service and the atmosphere are worth it, and I would definitely return.
Just a name
Everything was poor, bad service, cold food and nothing but snobs who talked loudly to make sure everyone heard what they were ordering. Nice if all you wanted to do is look at a nice place to eat. Not worth the time or effort. Did get to see Jay Leno, very professional and quite pleasant in his voice and manner.
My favorite steak

I think the bone-in filet is the best piece of meat I've ever tasted. Unfortunately, the shrimp we had as an appetizer was overcooked. But, the bread selection was delicious.
