If you're like most people, you've probably whizzed past this Italian restaurant dozens of times and not once noticed it was there. This mom-and-pop eatery isn't much on looks, with a drab exterior and interior that looks like a Denny's, circa 1984. That said, once you do arrive, you'll cherish the fact that you've finally found it.

Choosing an entree from the 95-plus dishes offered may prove difficult, but if you're stuck and like to experiment, order from the seafood menu (it's the house speciality). The mussels and clams are as fresh as anything you'll find at a Newport Beach restaurant, and the linguini calamari Luciana is undoubtedly the most popular dish. If Luigi's enormous and diverse menu doesn't surprise you, your tab will. With the average price of entrees costing around $10, you'll be amazed by how affordable Luigi's is, which is why it's probably so popular with struggling musicians. Just ask the guys from Lit and Social Distortion -- before they became famous, Luigi's was their usual hangout.

  • Try Cortina's Deli-Anaheim

Roma D Italia isgood but pricey for the amount of food. If you are looking for great Italian food Cortina's the place. Not fancy but tasty, the pizza is great and not pricey. The sandwiches are the bomb and try the cannoli from the market great. Lots to choose from homemade sausage, pizza dough and great deli meats. Check it out you will be a believer.

  • Service is hit and miss- Food is Excellent

    Review rating : 3out of 5   Boyznblue2002 - 07/10/2008

I have been to Luigi's 3 times in the past year and a half. The first time, everything was excellent. We were promptly seated and the waitress couldn't have been more attentive. The second time, the service was absolutely terrible. It was a good 10 minutes after we were seated before anyone stopped by our table to get our drink orders. It was another 10 minutes or so after that before our drinks were brought to us. When we were ready to give our food order we were told, "I'll be right back". It was another 10 minutes or so before our waitress returned. The 3rd visit wasn't quite as bad but when I only see our wait person 3 times (once to take the order, once to bring it, and once to bring the check), I have a problem with it. So, the service gets a medium rating due to the inconsistency but the food gets 5 stars across the board.

  • Bon Journo

    Review rating : 5out of 5   SocalDave613 - 05/16/2008

Good food, large servings, nicely served. This is not a fancy wow place, one of a kind and not a knock off chain with sanitized menus and instutionalized food. Everything you get here is made for YOU. Of course being just down the street from Angel Stadium you can get a great meal for the price of a couple of Hot Dogs, and still be om time for the game.

  • Try Roma D' Italia

Luigis pizza is to oily, and the bread is hard. Roma serves hot rools that are the best. Their pizza blows Luigis away. Roma has a better menu selection
