This is casual dining with a formula that works: delicious burgers served up with your choice of fixings at near-fast food prices. Step up to the counter and pick a hamburger, cheeseburger, bacon burger or bacon cheeseburger, all of which are prepared with fresh ground beef and come in two sizes -- one patty or two. Select from more than a dozen toppings, including sauteed mushrooms, pickles, jalapenos and hot sauce. Add an order of made-fresh, bordering-on-soggy, boardwalk-style French fries -- either regular or Cajun -- and a soda with free refills. You'll be set for just $6 or $7. You can also order a split-open grilled hot dog, with bacon and cheese variations, or a grilled cheese or veggie sandwich.

Mostly a takeout joint, Five Guys keeps things relaxed with comment cards decking the walls with customer kudos and rock music blaring throughout the place. While you wait for your order, snack on peanuts you don't have to shell out any cash for. Perhaps they're a symbol of the value you find at Five Guys -- yummy food for practically peanuts. -- Kathleen Neary

  • Five Guys Vs....

If you like Five Guys, then you would love Z Burger. Z Burger has waaayyy better burgers and there are more options. You can get a burger, veggie burger, turkey burger or even a cheesesteak. The milkshake menu is another plus because you can get any flavor from grape to birthday cake.

Great Fries, Yes! But Burgers just ok any place that cooks it the way they want is not customer friendly at all! I would rate them at 3 or 4 for this area I find it hard to belive That Ray's Hell Burger in Rosslyn at 1713 Wilson Blvd.

  • a fried burger is tops?

    Review rating : 3out of 5   terrapinstaation - 05/07/2009

I gave 3 stars for the ambiance, peanuts and amazing fries either plain or cajun. I can't understand how a fried burger gets voted #1 though. Preposturous. I will take any charbroiled burger over a 5 guy. It is a good burger not a great one. overrated.

Although they have the best fries in town without going to the beach, their burgers are rather dry with no taste. They are a decent size but I'd rather have the fries.
