It's getting tough to find a real burger -- the kind that's not shaped in some faraway processing plant and then slapped frozen into a high tech grilling contraption. We're talking juicy, drippy, char-grilled burgers made from beef ground fresh daily -- burgers that nestle themselves into their fluffy buns. These burgers come with baggage -- pickles, lettuce and tomatoes -- but also bring friends, those golden crispy fries.

Humbly appointed but scrupulously clean, El Cap (family established in 1963 and now run by the second generation) focuses on the glory of burgers but also offers other hearty grub -- the chili is a favorite of regulars.
