If you find a line at Johnny B's, just take your place and be patient, because 'round La Mesa and its environs, this place has got the best burgers for miles. Reasonable prices add to the allure; the weekday lunch special includes a burger that weighs in at 1/3 of a pound, fries and soda or draft beer for a mere $5.75. The restaurant interior is comfortable in a masculine/rec-room sort of way, featuring the requisite pool table, glowing TV screens broadcasting sporting events and an outside seating area. Pitchers of draft beer tend to be the beverage of choice, and the simple menu offers up necessities in life such as wings, onion rings, poppers and, of course, a variety of burgers and sandwiches. For those who just can't get enough, check out the Sunday-night steak dinners hot off the BBQ, and weekend breakfasts loaded with delicious carbohydrates and good old American meat.

AARguy - 06/21/2008Pitchers of (really cold) beer, hot peppers on the table, juicy burgers with fresh tomato, choice of cheeses, onions done to perfection and anything else you want on a great burger. Its sloppy and we always need a knife and fork to attack (we order double burgers). The beer choices are great so we usually go with friends and have pitchers of different brews to share. The service is great and its all only about 50 yards from our house. Friends from Poway to downtown join us there all the time!
Good Burgers
Acalpal - 06/13/2008Go there about once a month with friends - burgers are good, fires hot, and the staff is friendly. We have never had to wait for a table at lunch time, so if you're crunched for time - no problem. Make sure you get their Johnny B card and get it stamped towards a free burger. If you're in the La Mesa area it's worth checking out.

jeffspicoli619 - 05/16/2008Horrible wait times, the food is just average, and the service is just average, the people who say this place is great, must have never had a REAL burger. I live across the street and can't even get an a phone order because they don't do that on car show days. I made it clear I live directly across the street and they still would'nt make me a burger. If this is how they treat their locals, I can't imagine how they treat customers from out of town. I will NEVER go back to that place and I don't recommend you go there unless you want to wait forever for an over-rated burger.
