If there's one thing San Antonio locals will travel for, it's a great burger. That being the case, Bobby J's has created another reason to jump into your car and head to Helotes. Hot and flavorful, their burgers live up to the old-fashioned label. Served on a soft toasted bun with your choice of fresh toppings, these burgers are made to order and they do not disappoint. The decor isn't flashy, but it's comfortable and casual, with plenty of seating. The service is fast and friendly, and the menu is extensive. Bobby J's offers more than 10 burger specials, from the standard cheeseburger, to the BJ's Piggy (cheese and bacon) to the belt-busting Hungry Texan -- a 1-pound burger just about guaranteed to make you skip the fries. And if hamburgers aren't your thing, they also have both chicken and fish specials, as well as a vegetarian burger.

Not Any More
We went to Bobby J's last year (2008), and it was pretty good. The restaurant was full and everyone was enjoying their evening. However, one year later (June 2009), I could not even finish my burger it was so bad. There were hardly any cars in the parking lot, and after attempting to eat whatever it was between the bun, it explained why so few people were still eating there. The fries were overcooked, and you have to pay for tiny cup refills after the first one. For the first time in my life, I actually left food on my plate - not because I was full, but because it was inedible. I have traveled the world and eaten some strange things, but this burger just made the 5 worst meals I have ever eaten list. When I think of where I could have spent $40 for four people, it just makes me sad.

It's just not worth twice the price of a Whattaburger. It's nowhere near TWICE as good as a Whattaburger.
Not that great
The cashier must have been having a bad day. Very small amt of onion rings for the price. Hamburger lacked taste; very bland.
