Rumor has it this cattle ranch New York staple was named when Jackson Heights-natives James and Chris Meskouris dusted off a National Geographic story on the famed Wyoming town in their soon-to-be restaurant's basement. If they only knew what a legend they'd created. Since 1972, this cowboy-themed grill, which showcases James' affinity for cowboy art, movie posters and paraphernalia on its walls, has spurred more than half a dozen grilling locations in the city, including the popular Upper East and Upper West side destinations. Think big and familiar salads with ranchero names, like the Wyoming, Cheyenne or Woulia Boulia Salad (their version of Cobb), Bronco chicken sandwiches, fajitas and a stable-full more. But the kicker here is arguably the best burger in town: a huge, seven ounce, made-to-order monster of meat that sizzles, minces and melts in your mouth as you buck up from the outdoor patio and ride off into the spaghetti Western sunset. -- Yon Motskin

    The burger is huge ( most ppl cut it in half ) but it is far from the best !! The beef was tasteless, the turkey burger had more flavor. The fries and milkshake were great. If your hungry and want filling this is the place . The best burger is at the old homestead ( kolby beef 10oz!! ) nuff said!

  • The best burgers and ribs in NY

    I eat at this restaurant about once a month and always enjoyed the burgers. Last week I made a visit and found a guy chowing down on a slab of ribs. I looked at the menu figuring they added another entree but no ribs. I asked him how they were and he told me they were the best in the world but they are not on the menu so you must insist on speaking to a manager and "Demand" their ribs. It seems they only get a limited supply and save them for their regular customers but by law if they have them for sale they must allow you to order them. Now that I had that information I asked the counter server for a rack of ribs. He told me they didn't have ribs which caused me to pointed to the guy eating his ribs. I was then told that was a special order by customer request and I replied "Well, I'm a customer and I'm requesting the ribs" He got flustered and got a manager who told me he would serve me the super special ribs flown in from Chicago but he swore me to secrecy . You didn't hear this from me but demand the best ribs in the entire civilized world and don't take no for an answer.

    the burgers are really big however the location in astoria had tiny roaches crawling on their tables.the place really needs an exterminator.overrated by far will never go their again.

    Ive been dining there about 25 times a year since they opened....On the average these are the Best burgers to be found on the planet.

    The staff and owner are just the rudest. the food is ok, at this point even if it was the best, I would never return because of the people that run it. Jackson Hole is a Hell Hole!
