The weathered neon sign hanging above the green-and-white striped awning is the first clue that Rotier's has been easing Nashville's hunger pangs for more than half a century. Inside, the knotted-pine paneling, booths, beer signs and televisions make the dining room look like a bar, but the vibe is more family-friendly. Parents know to bring the kids for milk shakes (frothy vanilla or chocolate concoctions made with real ice cream that were taken off the menu when demand threatened to overwhelm the staff after a favorable local review) and homemade chicken fingers. College students mingle with music industry employees over a pitcher of draft beer while they watch the game and wait for their classic meat-and-three, which might be fried chicken, okra, peas and cornbread. A wall lined with awards for Nashville's Best Cheeseburger and Nashville's Best Hamburger advertises the restaurant's other big seller: a cheeseburger on French bread. -- Vicki Brown

  • Fried Pickles and a burger

    Review rating : 4out of 5   DMDeter - 03/13/2009

First place I had fried pickles and they are the best. Have been eating here for 9 years. Have friends that have been eating here for over 30 years. Grilled cheeseburger and chocolate cake are to spend the calories and carbs on without looking back. The BEST!

  • Don't get the oysters

    Review rating : 1out of 5   Ann TNWV - 05/31/2008

I bought them and they were almost burnt. I didn't enjoy anything about the meal, not even the salad. I wanted some good oysters but this is not the place to order them!!! I was disappointed and agree with the other review person- don't order the seafood.

  • Best. Burger. Ever.

Undoubtedly, the only thing to order at Rotiers is a cheeseburger on french bread. They are slammin' and jammin...great cure for the Saturday hangover. They also serve the rarity of coca-cola in glass bottles. You can't beat that.
