With walls drowning in polaroid pictures of smiling faces and heads in trash cans, any patron would be curious of the history that Eagle's Deli holds. Just by walking into the warm smell of fresh grill, you, too, can have the chance to become part of their claim to fame; if you dare to attempt the feat of the one-pound burger, that is. Each photo on these walls frames a successful consumer (and non-regurgitator) of at least 1 pound of beef. Three special names, however, hang alone next to an autographed Boston College jersey: The warriors of the five-pound burger.

"Pshaw, five pounds. That's nothing," you think, but think twice. The plate you'll soon receive is five pounds of beef, a quarter-pound of cheese, several strips of bacon and a heaping side of fries. Eat it (and, of course, keep it down), and you'll have a burger named after you, though you may notice that only two of the two of the three Eagle's Challengers appear on the menu. Alas, the first contender was at the trash can within a minute.

The good news for the less tenacious eater is that you don't always have to stuff your face at Eagle's. They also have a full grill menu and wicked cheap breakfasts: 99 cents for an egg, meat and cheese sandwich, or $1.50 for an eggs, meat and toast plate (Monday-Friday). It's a good idea to call ahead in the morning if you're on your way somewhere because it can get busy.
