In an increasingly high-tech Austin, Sandy's remains a vivid reminder of the Capital City's good ole days. The dine-outside-only burger shack on Barton Springs is a city staple (you can't miss the giant neon custard cone), serving up burgers, fries and shakes to those in search of fabulous '50s nostalgia -- and prices. Known for their popular special (burger, fries and a drink for next to nothing), Sandy's is an ideal stop for Town Lake walkers, struggling students and the budget-conscious.

Fully embodying old-fashioned values, Sandy's only accepts cash, so look under those cushions, scrounge up loose change and be sure to leave the credit cards behind. Family-owned for more than five decades, Sandy's is a throwback to simpler times, when an evening out was made complete by good food and good company. Be sure to try the famous frozen custard, it's the perfect topper to a warm evening. -- Kelly Lee

All the above is true and the people are really helpful and real; this is an authentic Austin place and easy to get to . Get the burger and fries and then hit Snow Beach trailer nearby for a real austin snow cone. It's a step back in time with authenticity..

I just LOVE Sandy's... but I love the finer simplicities in life!
The best date scenario ~ weather permitting ~ grab a bag of burgers, walk over to SRV, sit & chat! You can really get to know a lot about someone if you dedicate a couple hours to communciation, you can also enjoy nature, people watching and the best damn burger you've had since childhood! All for a couple hours, a couple gallons of gas & only a couple of bucks for dinner! Best value in town!

I have been eating at Sandy's since I moved here in 1963 to attend UT when it became my favorite burger place. And don't forget the frozen custard.

I have been in Austin for over 20 years and the first time I went to Town Lake, I saw Sandy's. It naturally attracted me because my name is Sandy. I go there everytime I have an opportunity! These are the nicest foks that runs the place. They always greet you with a genuine smile and down home politeness. The food is just absolutely great. You can get the same order every time you go and it is consistently good. Every time I bite into one of their burgers, it takes me back to the fifties!! When I have a guest from out of town, I take 'em there.
    Love it, Love it!!!!
