This being Atlanta, you needn't ask who Ted is -- the answer being Ted Turner, of course, media mogul, sports aficionado, Montana rancher. And that last description brings us to Ted's Montana Grill, of which there are many, not only in the Atlanta area, but in Columbus, Ohio, Nashville and Denver as well. These smoke-free restaurants serve up "21st century comfort food" for lunch and dinner, featuring 20 different beef and bison burgers, blue-plate specials, beef filets, salads and roasted "beer can chicken," plus cedar-planked steelhead salmon. Not to mention the homemade cookies and shakes.

Ted's Montana Grills follow the Craftsman-style design popular at the turn of the last century, and individual Ted's locations boast their own special character: in Atlanta the downtown Ted's on Luckie St. has a "Ted's Take-Away" area, featuring the full menu, while the midtown Ted's offers retail sales of freshly ground, and filets of, bison, marinated chicken breasts and the popular "half-sour" pickles found at each location. -- Edna McCown

We went to the TED MONTANA restaurant in Kennesaw Georgia for a simple BIRTHDAY CELEBRATION luncheon for our office manager. The place was not busy or crowded and when the waiter took our order, we thought we were taken care of pretty quickly...We waited 15 minutes and still no food or waiter...we waited 30 minutes and still no food. After confronting the waiter, he had forgotten to place our order with the kitchen....and asked that we wait...we could not wait as we only had a hour for lunch. They were embarrassed to say the least...Not a very good experience at all for such a restaurant that is supposed to be of great service and great food....I did talk with the manager and he only sent ONE GIFT CARD to one of the employees instead of TO ALL THE EMPLOYEES who had to do without lunch that day....that would of been four of us. NOT A GOOD EXPERIENCE AT ALL.
