Serving up breakfast burritos, garden omelets and thick stacks of pancakes, this blue-collar neighborhood breakfast diner keeps the Ballard locals happy and well fed, almost every morning of the week. Dish isn't much to look at -- the furnishings don't match, and the decor doesn't knock your socks off -- but it's the perfect place to go to escape trendy, overpriced breakfast food. Dish offers unassuming, inexpensive food in a family-friendly atmosphere, and that is why loyal locals have been coming back for years. Service is efficient and has a warm, welcoming small-town quality -- these folks probably really will remember your name.

Dishing It Out In Freemont
While on vacation in Seattle, took a side trip to Freemont (the self-designated center of the universe)/had breakfast at the Dish Cafe. Overall food very good/innovative (the special the day I went was ginger rice pudding pancakes). All sorts of interesting omlettes (settled on their Greek one with feta cheese/black olives). But my favorite was their scones which is more like a flat/square muffin. My only knocks: Place very small/has about 10 tables total plus counter. Not real close to the main area in Freemont/located about a mile away in a non-descript/industrial area. Very interesting mix of customers (from car mechanics to bohemian artists).

We had breakfast at the Dish mid September. The food is great as is the service and atmosphere. A great find for us and anyone in Seattle. Wish it was in my hometown!!
