A favorite of locals, early morning surfers and burger lovers, Kono's has become an institution in Pacific Beach. Not only to does it serve breakfast all day for late risers, but it also has a top lunch selection. The lines are sometimes long, but the ultra-friendly and speedy service make waiting a non-issue. There are also plenty of things to check out before you place your order, including gnarly surfing pictures, surfing footage screened on a wall-mounted TV, and T-shirts and sweatshirts that proclaim you are a proud customer of Kono's. There's also a quote-of-the-week board, where favorite gems of overheard wisdom get props. Choose between indoor and outdoor seating; dining alfresco gives patrons a fantastic view of the ocean, but beware of pesky birds trying to steal a free meal off your plate. One of the best things about Kono's is that you can't beat the bang you get for your buck; in fact, a chalkboard on the wall proclaims the number of days Kono's hasn't raised its prices, and the number is huge.

  • Good food at the beach

Local favorite that specializes in large sized breakfast served right off the famous Crystal pier.Food is good and plenty of it, althou nothing really special .The Eggery located 3 blocks south is exceptional and and about twice the price. Here's the deal if your bucks are crumbled in your pocket go to Kono's or the Broken yolk up grand ave. both fair priced and good food.Parent visits, outings, dates you can not go wrong with the Eggery or The mission they are excellent and worth the extra $ when not rushed

  • BEST BREAKFAST IN SAN DIEGO

    Review rating : 5out of 5   jmpigboy - 09/04/2007

This is the best breakfast place in San Diego. If you don't mind waiting in line to make an order, just remember it is part of the experience. The food is plentiful tasty and CHEAP> You can also cross the boardwalk and eat looking over the ocean..

    the breakfast is okay.
other than breakfast, pretty much everything there is really good.

& someone said theres no view, there IS but the seating is not attached, you tell them you'll be sitting outside and walk across to the seating that has a view.

  • If your homeless is right!

That made me chuckle but it's so true. First the service is AWFUL! I waited a half hour in a line of about 11 people. Its all about mounds of eggs and more eggs that's it! ROFL about the potatoes...mine were hard as a rock!
If you want (and I can't believe that they dont' list it here) a great breakfast go to The Brockton Villa in La Jolla. You will not be disappointed.

and just scraped together 5 bucks for a big breakfast, maybe you would think the food deserves 5 stars. We found it to be extremely ordinary. We sat inside, and the only view is out the front door a ways down you can see the beach, otherwise the view is blocked by another building. It was decent food at a decent price, but to me, that barely deserves the 3 stars I gave it. I even tried dousing the potatoes with ketchup and salt like several other diners, but even that did not help.
