For 25 years, Bijou has been offering hungry downtowners gourmet breakfasts and lunches made with local, organic ingredients. Housed on a busy corner, Bijou takes full advantage of ample natural light -- tall paneled windows hem in the restaurant, shedding light on colorful artwork and comfortable tables and booths.
Breakfast is simple, regional, fresh and flavorful. Due to over-fishing of snapper, Bijou's famed Snapper Hash has evolved into Oyster Hash -- also a raging success. The hearty, dino-sized plate of fresh oysters dredged in cornmeal flour, sauteed with onions, potatoes and parsley is distinctive and delicious.
If your appetite isn't so hefty, choose from the many traditional offerings: omelettes, scrambles, French toast, pancakes. The granola-ey choices shouldn't be slighted: yogurt and toasted filberts, rice and raisins, and drop-dead fabulous muffins are available. Bijou serves top-quality food with a good conscience. Don't pass up Bijou brew for Stumptown's next door. Instead, savor a rich, satisfying cup of organic coffee from Chiapas, Mexico. Be prepared for a wait, but don't sweat it -- the food transcends the queue.

The oyster omelette at Bijou Cafe is absolutely wonderful. I always order it, don't even look at the menu anymore.
My sister is obsessed with their meditteranean omelette (when available) and their organic ketchup and my mom always orders the steak hash.
Weekends tend to be really busy so I usually go sometime Mon-Fri.
Servers are nice, fast service, etc. The prices are fair and it's one of the rare places you can get a made from scratch milkshake at breakfast... Good times.huh??/
I have seen this place recommended many times. Tried it for breakfast and can honestly say it was one of the worst meals I ever had. Just because its organic doesn't make it good. Bland and expensive.
Imaginative, attentive, delicious
The Bijou Cafe is a wonderful Portland institution. They have a fantastically imaginitive lunch menu. And for breakfast, ummmmmm, good potatoes, good pancakes, good coffee. The service is very attentive and accomodating. Bijou cafe is always a five star choice.
