Square Cafe borrows its name from its neighborhood, Regents Square, a posh little shopping district just outside city limits. This adorable breakfast spot takes that name to heart, using the right-angle geometry of the walls, tables and plates to emphasize its, er, squaredom. Square Cafe is bright and vibrant, always packed with thirtysomethings and their young families. (Baby strollers often are parked between the Formica-topped tables.) Serving up delectable breakfasts of buttermilk pancakes and eggs Benedict, as well as weekend dinners of wonton soup, fried zucchini and grilled chicken marinated in rosemary, Square Cafe offers top-notch, if occasionally pricey, dining. The BYOB policy makes for a nice addition to dinner, and the bread pudding, soaked in vanilla sauce and Jack Daniel's, is unparalleled.

The best
We don't live in Pittsburgh, but visit there often and no visit is complete without a trip to the Square Cafe. They have cottage cheese pancakes that I would walk 500 miles for. It's the best.

We used to stop in on our way to the food co-op every month and the place has gotten worse every time. Long waits when there are empty tables, they are unable to fill menu items at 11 am because they have run out - talk about poor planning! then our food was cold when it arrived after 25 minutes. We had a coupon and gave it to a waiting diner after deciding to never return!
the best don't miss this one!
very family friendly outstanding service with a smile and a very innovative menu. the owner really cares and it shows in every way.
Yummy!
I could dine at the Square Cafe every weekend. It's unique menu, angly ambience, and friendly staff add up to a satisfying mealtime for my and my family.
