The Edison isn't as big, flashy or neon as some of the other diners in Jersey. But since it's more like a family restaurant, the owners have won over some die-hard loyalists. The unassuming flowery decor is forgettable, but the food and the service are legendary. Families, locals and students all swear by this place, because the staff always makes sure that everyone is comfortable and well-fed. It can get busy and people are often waiting for tables, but you'll never feel rushed out the door. Groups of Rutgers students, bleary-eyed in the smoking section, are left to study and sip their coffee in peace. White-haired ladies rub elbows with truckers as they dig into the famed eggs benedict or the Newark hot dog dripping with peppers, onions, potatoes and mushrooms. The Edison Diner definitely has the trifecta: good food, good prices and great service.

We have gone to the Edison Diner many times to eat and we have never been disapointed. Typical diner food but the service is good and a nice atmosphere. Breakfast is filling! Also, love the buffalo wings!
