The name's kind of suspect, but don't let visuals of garbage-eating insects deter you from trying ''blunch'' at Ferndale's The Fly Trap. A cheery and quirky little establishment, the owners of this 2-year-old diner know how to give breakfast (or, blunch, as they call it) items a remarkable twist. Perhaps most illustrative of this is the green eggs and ham dish, which consists of a ''rumble'' of eggs, with roasted pesto and cheese, accompanied by a slab of ham. Other items of note include oatmeal with dried cherries and ice cream, crab cakes and eggs, and homemade gingerbread waffles. The Fly Trap also serves dinner from a menu that's just as interesting as blunch.

Grizz73 - 11/23/2008I think they named it The Fly Trap for a reason....cause once you eat their food you're trapped! The potatoes alone keep me coming back. They make their own jelly/jam, with flavors like sourberry, strawberry banana...I always get extra. Like some spice with your food? Get some of the homemade Swat Sauce...just be careful...the exploding flavor could ignite your taste buds. The staff is way cool. Great service. No elevator music in this finer diner. I tell everyone i know to eat there. Yes, it's that good!!

loladwan - 04/03/2007This is one of the best kept secrets around! The food is fabulous! The prices are unbelievable! Go for breakfast, lunch or dinner--they are all a treat! Try the daily specials, each is extra special. Huevos Rancheros are a favorite and the salmon burger is to die for! My very favorites are the "Chop Chop" salad and the Fried Rice. Generous portions, unique and so delicious you will want to visit every day!!! Cudos to the chef who brings out the "finest" in this finer diner! An absolute gem in Ferndale!!!!!!

crashatollah - 02/18/2007We go to The Flytrap several times a week for breakfast (blunch) and dinner. Their food is fantastic. An eclectic mix of homestyle foods with little extras that make them unique and extra tasty. There are always great specials. The staff is wonderful. The prices are great. The atmosphere is comfortable and quirky and they play excellent music. We can't say enough great things about The Flytrap. It's our favorite restaurant.
Every little thing at The Flytrap has that special touch.
