Whether you view Old Dominion Brewing Co. as a smoke-free, clean after-work spot or a somewhat sterile, strip-mall approach to breweries isn't really important. After all, it's the beer -- not the social scene -- that counts for those who frequent this open-early, close-early pub.
Nestled in an out-of-the-way business district in Ashburn, the bar is often crowded with tie- loosened, happy hour patrons who work in the area. Inexpensive ribeye steaks, hummus platters, ginger-soy glazed catfish and Dominion Lager chili prove ample accompaniment to the robust beers on tap. Beer choices fluctuate with the season, but Dominion Stout, Pale Ale, Real Ale and Lager are among the most popular. For something a bit different, try the Tuppers' Hop Pocket.
Our recommendation? Stop in for a frothy pint of any flavor, but take the rest to go. After an initial investment of $14, you can refill your Old Dominion growler each time you visit -- 64 ounces of fresh, tap suds for $5. Party planners might also inquire about the cases and kegs, which range from about $24 to $95.
Note: Free brewery tours are offered Saturdays at 2PM and 4PM and Sundays at 2PM.

The beer is the reason to go to the ODB. They have something for everyone. Even you Bud piswah drinkers. The food has come a long way since the pub opened and is actually very good now. You can never go wrong with a burger, bangers and mash, or fish and chips.
Tupper's Hop Pocket Ale remains my favorite (think Sierra Nevada IPA on hop steriods). Served out of the cask it is even better - little carbonation so no burpies.
One word sums it all up - YUMMY!Beer me
Decent but pricey food. As you might expect, the real reason to go is the beer. Lots of lagers, ales and stout to choose from and it can't be any fresher. Fill a growler at the brewery and bring home some tap brew.
