Set inside the majestic marble of the City Post Office Building, the Capitol City Brewing Co. provides a friendly watering hole for locals, Hill staffers and tourists alike. Large copper vats surrounded by an oval copper bar are the focal point of Cap City's neoclassical-meets- industrial interior. The decor could make the place seem cold and impersonal, but the retro red vinyl booths and the mellow glow of the lights hanging above them help soften the edge. As its name suggest, Cap City is known for its brews: The Blackout Stout may taste a bit nuttier than the Nutty Brown Ale at times, but the mix of seasonal offerings and year-round favorites continue to pack customers in well past happy hour. Although it is a brew pub at heart, Cap City's menu selections stand many notches above your standard bar fare. For a quick bite, try the pretzels.
