If you're bloody sick of all the Irish pubs littering the Gaslamp, here's something a tad different. Shakespeare Bar & Grille has successfully imported British joviality direct from the Isles, resulting in a pub so perfect you'll forget you're in San Diego. No doubt you'll overhear conversations so comically Cockney you'll wonder if the chaps were planted to enhance the atmosphere.

The bartenders delight in mixing up all sorts of topsy-turvy concoctions, such as the Shandy (half 7-Up, half lager) and the Poor Man's Black Velvet (cider on the bottom, Guinness on top). The "Grille" serves traditional British pub fare, and we're talking really authentic: Choices include shepherd's pie, a ploughman's plate, the Falstaff's Feast and the old stand-by, fish and chips.
