Although it's known as a family-friendly restaurant by day, there's no confusing the fact that the Yard House is one of the hottest spots within Orange County's burgeoning nightlife subculture. But don't assume that this American-fusion eatery is a conventional nightclub -- you won't find a dance floor or trendy DJs here. The House is definitely a bar, though to call it a bar is misleading -- think of the Yard House as a lounge. Furnished with honey-stained oak, forest-green Naugahyde and brushed-metal trim, the Yard House combines the elements of a traditional pub with post-industrial touches (check out its trademark stainless-steel oval bar) using very little effort. While Mondays through Wednesdays are somewhat subdued, weekend evenings are packed with well-dressed scenesters from every corner of the county. Thursday evenings seem to be the unofficial locals night, considering it seems as though everyone in the area between the ages of 21 and 30 shows up. As far as signature drinks go, everyone knows that the drink of choice is any one of the bar's 180 beers on tap (so long as it's consumed from the Yard House's yard-long glasses).
